Be it enacted…That from and after the enactment of this law, it shall be deemed a penal offense , and punishable by imprisonment for a term of years not exceeding six, or less than one, and a fine of not more than Ten Thousand Dollars, or less than One Thousand, for any person white or black, male or female, to trade to any Indian or Indians, upon the frontier of Texas or anywhere in the vicinity thereof, or within the limits of this Republic, steel or iron in any shape whatever, but more especially when manufactured into knives, spears, points for arrows, or daggers of any shape size or description, or hatchets, or any other implement calculated to produce death, or guns or pistols of any caliber, description, or character; or powder or lead, or shot, or any thing appertaining in the most remote manner to fire arms.
